Atlega Social Impact

During 2022, as part of Sehlare Sa Meetlwa’s drive to improve the lives of the communities we work and live in, SSM reached out to various project leaders in the community and were made aware of the needs of two local schools: Refentse Primary School in Groenwater, Postmasburg and Maikaelelo Primary School in Olifantshoek. After the success of the initial outreach programme, which included a Christmas Gifts engagement in late 2022 followed by a Back-to-School event in early 2023, the SSM team took the decision to invest in a longer-term relationship with the two primary schools, and Atlega Community Projects was born.

ATLEGA COMMUNITY PROJECTS NPC 2023/940165/08 was established as a Non-Profit Company with its main goal being to uplift and improve the conditions at the two schools. “Atlega” is a local Setswana word which means to prosper / achieve / succeed / make progress.

SSM has also partnered with Tloleho Environment and Social Consulting to assist SSM and ATLEGA with the identification, prioritisation, and coordination of the various social projects at the primary schools.
